Based in the UK, Venus Loon is an Anglo-German collaborative studio duo, who have aimed to produce interesting and complex music which is away from the mainstream. Pandora’s Paradox refers to Pandora’s Box, which supposedly contained all the evils of the world, which were released when Pandora opened the box. However, it also contained hope, which remained inside the box. Symbolically, the box represents the curiosity and desire for knowledge that can lead to both negative consequences and positive outcomes; this is the paradox. Reviews are coming in from many countries and they all seem to agree that the music is reminiscent of old-school 70’s as seen in this quote from a pre-release review:
“Title track Pandora’s Paradox runs almost ten minutes and is another newfound prog classic, this time recalling some of the wildest Yes or Rush tracks, with the bass playing a standout. …There’s no substitute for a skilled live drummer and Ostermann is worth his weight in gold. After a killer intro, the song … sounds a bit like “More Than A Feeling” by Boston, but that’s just a tiny kernel surrounded by totally intense power chords, melodies and guitar soloing. There’s even room for some Wakeman-like synth trills. Lawson’s vocals recall Peter Hammill and David Bowie at different times.” Dino DiMuro-Pitch Perfect Magazine,
