Peter Swart‘s extensive catalogue showcases a diverse range of musical endeavors, spanning from the instrumental miniatures of “VIEWS” (volumes 1 and 2, 1996 and 2000) to the sung songs and classical guitar pieces of “THE PATH” (2003). Albums like “SHADES” (2006) and “ROFLORÉ” (2009) delve into themes of fairy tales and fantastical narratives, while “THE COUCH” (2014) explores introspective concepts through a variety of musical styles. “ODERAN” (2020) takes a more electronic approach, drawing inspiration from Peter’s science fiction trilogy. MIGRATION released on OOB Records (2024), alongside reissues of THE COUCH and ODERAN, continues to showcase his signature symphonic Prog and Ambient Contemporary Neo-classical styles.
With influences ranging from seventies symphonic rock to personal dreams and literature, Peter’s compositions exhibit a wide spectrum of sounds, from intimate classical guitar pieces to robust symphonic themes. Trained in classical piano and guitar, Peter handles guitars and keyboards himself, occasionally collaborating with talented guest musicians. Beyond music, Peter is an accomplished author, having penned the Dutch science fiction trilogy “Kroniek van Oderan.” His diverse background includes stints in bands, such as a Leonard Cohen tribute band and a Balkan/Klezmer band, as well as collaborations with lyricist and singer Peter van der Laan in the collective Morphosis, whose album “SECRETS OF THE COSMOS” weaves a science fiction narrative. Outside of music, Peter has pursued a career as a psychologist and teacher, adding depth and insight to his multifaceted artistic endeavors.
