Giovanni Blue, Moments was a side-project of multi-instrumentalist, John Geel. After several years of hibernation, Geel returned to the music scene under his alter-ego stage name, Giovanni Blue, with release of his second solo album titled, ‘Moments’. ’Moments’ was release on OOB Records January/2021, and shortly thereafter, John Geel returned to retirement. John Geel was born and raised in the Netherlands. He began playing guitar and piano at the age of sixteen. Intrigued by the complexities of music and instruments, he later dabbled with any instrument he could get his hands on, including saxophone, flute and cello. His music career began with local bands, Eternity and Staccato. Various twists and turns of life interrupted his recording ambitions, but at age of forty, Geel returned to the studio, this time in the roll of composer and multi-instrumentalist with the Precious Time Project. In collaboration with his mates: John Havermans (keys), Reno de Bruin (drums) and Henk Bol (bass and guitar), they recorded two albums, ‘If The Gods Knew’ and ‘Precious Time’. Fast forward to 2018, for the creation of Geel’s first solo project endeavor, Giovanni Blue. The independently produced and released debut album, ‘Time Will Tell’ featured several guest artists on vocals, while Geel provided all compositions and instruments.
