Jamie Toomey began his musical career in Galway performing Gypsy jazz with his trio, I Saw Stars, interpreting the repertoire of Django Reinhardt. Since 2018, he has focused on original music, releasing the albums Sijo and Second Sunlight, as well as the EP, Inside. In 2023 Jamie released a 3 track instrumental called Flight, recorded and filmed alongside ConTempo Quartet in Cuan Studios, Spiddal; 2024 another 3-track release, a jazz influenced version of, ‘The Boys are Back in Town’, featuring Maciek Zaworonek on harp, a single co-written with Tom Pyne called ‘Charlie Bloodmoon’, and a track featuring Bogdan Sofei (violin) and Adrian Mantu (cello) called, ‘From this point on’. His work blends cinematic textures, emotive melodies, and visual storytelling, building on his background in improvisation and ensemble performance. Driftlines (March/2026), official release on OOB Records, is a series of cinematic vignettes, exploring moments of tension and quiet resolve through choir and violin led compositions. The decision to release Driftlines in digital only format is to give a glimpse into the upcoming full album, which is a work in progress to be released late 2026 or early 2027 on OOB Records.
