JAMES HOULAHAN – ON A WING
€ 17,00
10-track CD in a beautifully illustrated 4-panel digisleeve. The artwork is based on Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights. On a Wing contains ten songs that speak of the need to embrace change, of making a home in this great mess of a world, and finding the perseverance to keep on keeping on. In fact, many of the tunes address the need and value of music itself, like the track “That Bird and I” where “each song is an offering…songs of love and songs of pain…borrowed tunes from voices past, they echo in a grand symphony.” To find the wherewithal to sing past and through the many tribulations coming down the road at us. To sing on, despite it all.

Los Angeles singer-songwriter James Houlahan faced tremendous challenges during the January 2025 fires while working on his new album, realizing the fragility of life. Now based in LA since 2012, Houlahan’s seventh album, On a Wing, set for release on February 25, 2026, encapsulates themes of resilience and the significance of music amidst turmoil. Recorded with producer Fernando Perdomo (Dave Kerzner, Echo in the Canyon), the album features seven original songs that celebrate embracing change and perseverance, supported by the chemistry of renowned musicians Danny Frankel and Greg Cohen. With contributions from folk legend John Kruth, who enriches the soundscape with diverse instruments, Houlahan’s work draws imagery from nature and flight, echoing Emily Dickinson’s sentiment that “hope is the thing with feathers.” Through his music, Houlahan seeks to uplift and inspire, inviting listeners to envision a world filled with beauty and hope.
